Jesus shall take the highest honor
December is here and we are again in the thick of the Christmas season and all that it conveys and entails..
The words of a worship song keep coming to my mind:
"Jesus shall take the highest honor
Jesus shall take the highest praise."
However we choose to celebrate Christmas and whatever we choose to do with Jesus Christ at Christmas time, he WILL receive the highest honor. The Bible tells us that God has given Jesus Christ that honor. The dictionary defines honor as high respect, exalted position, glory and a good name. Jesus sits at the right-hand of God; the place of honor beside a king and thus he is made second in authority to God himself. God has given him power 1 Peter 4:22 and all will bow down and worship him. Philippians 2:6-11 says "God exalted Him to the highest place and gave him a name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord".
This is the baby we are celebrate at Christmas. This Christmas, we can join heaven and exalt (praise highly) the baby, Jesus Christ. We can do as the shepherds did, come and see who this baby is, come and see what we have heard and been told. When we really see who Jesus Christ is, then our celebration will acknowledge the highest honor.
